CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM
Introduction:
Sama Kindergarten is a vibrant educational institution operated by Tergar Charity Nepal, dedicated to providing quality early childhood education to children in Sama village of Tsum-Nubri Rural Municipality, ward 1. Our kindergarten serves as a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and develop essential skills for their future.
Purpose:
The Child Sponsorship Program aims to provide financial support to children attending Sama Kindergarten who mostly come from underprivileged backgrounds. Through sponsorship, these children will have access to quality education, nutritious meals, and essential resources, ensuring their holistic development.
Procedure:
1. Identification of Eligible Children:
-
Eligible children are typically from families facing financial hardships, living below the poverty line, or belonging to marginalized communities. Since Sama is situated in one of the remotest regions of Northern Gorkha, all are accounted as eligible.
-
Age eligibility must be taken under consideration for the efficient & smooth operation of classes. As per our policy, children aged between 3 & 5 are eligible.
2. Registration and Enrollment:
-
Once eligible children are identified, their families are invited to enroll them in the Sama Kindergarten.
-
Families interested in the sponsorship program complete an application form, providing necessary details about their child's background, family status and also their birth certificate.
3. Matching with Sponsors:
-
Sponsors interested in supporting a child's education are matched with eligible children based on their preferences, such as age and gender.
-
Sponsors have the opportunity to establish a personal connection with the child through letters/ drawings, photos, and occasional updates on their progress.
4. Sponsorship Packages:
-
Sponsors can choose from different sponsorship packages based on their financial capacity and level of commitment.
-
Sponsorship packages include support for a year, two, or three years; which is the maxim period a child will be with us in the kindergarten. A USD1200 ($100 a month) is set as the overall annual sponsorship. Your sponsorship covers tuition fees, school/ educational supplies, uniforms, meals, hygiene packs, and healthcare.
5. Financial Support:
-
Sponsors can make regular contributions towards the child's sponsorship, quarterly (USD300), half- yearly (USD600) or annually (USD1200).
-
Contributions are collected securely through online payment platforms (through Yongey Foundation, if you are in the states), and direct bank transfers if you are from other countries.
(NOTE: Yongey Foundation has been kindly supporting us with receiving & accumulating funds for us but they do not have enough manpower to keep track/ record of your contributions. Therefore, for sponsors contributing through Yongey Foundation, please email us: info@tergarcharity.org so we can keep a track & record your contributions.)
6. Impact Monitoring and Reporting:
-
TCN maintains a record of all the sponsors, their details and their sponsored child for communication and reference.
-
TCN ensures transparency and accountability by providing sponsors with regular updates on the child's progress, including academic performance, health status, and extracurricular activities.
-
Annual reports are prepared, highlighting the collective impact of the sponsorship program and showcasing success stories of sponsored children.
7. Communication and Engagement:
-
Sponsors are encouraged to maintain communication with the sponsored child through letters, emails, or virtual meetings.
-
TCN can coordinate and create opportunities for sponsors to visit the kindergarten, interact with the children, and witness the impact of their support firsthand. (but Please NOTE, since Sama village falls under Manaslu Trekking Circuit, a trekking permit and a guide is compulsory so, the cost of permits, guides, accommodation and other expenses incurred during the trek must be borne by the sponsor themselves.)
8. Renewal and Continuation:
-
Sponsorship commitments are typically renewable on an annual basis, allowing sponsors to continue their support for the child's education over time (3 to 5 year).
-
Sponsors have the option to continue their sponsorship to support a new child in the kindergarten beyond the completion of their sponsorship period when their sponsored child graduates & transitions to primary school.
-
Sponsors also have the option to extend their sponsorship to support the child's transition to primary school or higher education, ensuring continuity of support. However, Tergar Charity will forward the communication responsibility to one of the staffs in primary school.
Conclusion:
The Child Sponsorship Program at Sama Kindergarten plays a crucial role in creating school going culture, breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering children to reach their full potential. Through the generosity and commitment of sponsors, we can create a brighter future for disadvantaged children, one child at a time.
TCN welcomes individuals and organizations to join us in making a difference in the lives of these children through sponsorship. Together, we can transform lives and build stronger, more inclusive communities.
